Why remove audio from a video?
The most common reason is autoplay. Every modern browser refuses to play a video on its own if it carries sound, so a hero background meant to loop quietly behind your text never starts until the audio is gone. Removing the track is what lets an autoplay background actually play.
Then there is noise. Screen recordings pick up notifications, keyboard clatter and half-heard conversations; a phone clip catches wind and chatter you never meant to publish. Dropping the audio clears all of it at once, without the fuss of editing individual sections — and it is the quickest way to strip a private conversation before a file ever leaves your hands.
Silence also travels better. Social platforms often swap a clip's sound for their own music, which makes the original track dead weight, and borrowed audio can trip copyright flags. What happens when you remove the audio
Removing audio is not the same as turning the volume down — the sound is taken out of the file itself, not just silenced on playback.
